Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance (ICT & NG) is a Government Ministry providing strategic and technical leadership, overall coordination, support and adviocacy on all matters of policy, law, regulation and strategy for the ICT sector.

The Ministry commonly known as Ministry of ICT & NG is made up of a number of Directorates which include:

• ICT Infrastructre Planning;
• Information & National Guidance; and
• ICT Services.

The Ministry has a number of affiliated institutions for support to achieve its mission. The institutions include;

• Uganda Communications Commission (UCC);
• National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U);
• Uganda Media Centre;
• Government Citizens Interaction Centre;
• Uganda Broadcasting Coproration;
• Posta Uganda; and
• Uganda Telecommunication Limited. 

Information Technology in Uganda is at a turning point with tremendous opportunities emerging and has been named among the fastest growing industries in the country.

Mandate:
Ministry of Information and Communications Technology is mandated to:

•    Formulate, Implement Policies of Information and Communications Technology;
•    Sustain, manage and oversee Information and Communications Technology infrastructure in Uganda;
•    Regulate and Quality Assure Information and Communications Technology services; an
•    Negotiate, conclude and implement bilateral and multilateral agreements regarding Information and Communications Technology in Uganda.

Leadership:
Minister for ICt & National Guidance, Hon. Frank K. Tumwebaze provides political leadership to the Ministry.
