Monitoring and Evaluation Strengthened to boost Government Performance

Over the Period of the first week of February 2014, Office of the Prime Minister continued to strengthen monitoring and evaluation to boost Government performance. The Department of Monitoring and evaluation carried out a number of activities in this regard as follows:

·         Prepared and chaired Contracts Committee meeting.

 

·         Prepared and held a Departmental meeting to discuss the implementation of activities carried out in the department for previous week and the planned activities for the next week, especially concerning the preparation of the Government Half Annual performance Report (GHAPR) FY 2013/14 retreat due in mid-March 2014.

 

·         Received and analyzed half annual performance reports from MDAs in preparation for the Government Half Annual Performance Report (GHAPR) FY 2013/14.

 

·         Undertook appraisal of staff in the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation.

 

·         Followed up resolutions of the barazas carried out in the 1st quarter of FY 2013/14 for the central region.

 

·         Attended a meeting on to discuss the second Economic Recovery Analysis (ERA II) Report for Northern Uganda that was conducted over the last 1 year.

 

·         Attended a Micro-Finance Board of Directors meeting.

 

·         Held a meeting on the 2013 Rapid Results Initiative review for M&E department to discuss and share the challenges, achievements and way forward.

 

·         Prepared a presentation for the Ministry for General Duties (MDG) to be made in Kyankwanzi.

 

·         Participated in a Skype interview with International experts on the experience of Uganda in developing the M&E policy.

 

·         Met the World Bank officials on the Partnership Policy where it was agreed that OPM develop a roadmap for the implementation of the policy.

 

·         Presented a project proposal on Strengthening the Government Evaluation Facility (GEF) to the development Committee at Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED).

 

·         Finalized the job descriptions for the proposed Directorate of Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection.

 

·         Presided over a meeting held in preparation for the Uganda Evaluation Week scheduled for (19th -23rd May 2014).

 

·         Prepared an introduction letter for the National Coaches to the key stakeholders in preparation for the Managing for Development Results (MfDR) readiness assessment for Uganda.

 

·         Finalized and submitted a funding request to the World Bank-TASU for the implementation of the dissemination plan for the Public Procurement Disposal of Public Assets Authority’s (PPDA) evaluation.

 

·         Submitted a write-up of the proposed launch of the Uganda Community of Practice and MfDR road map to the African Development Bank (AfDB) resident representative for consideration.
