The Government of Uganda is committed to communicate better with a new strategy in place. The Government Communication Strategy was launched by former Prime Minister Hon. Amama Mbabazi at Africana Hotel in Kampala.

The new strategy has a major goal focusing on information getting available to the public and ensuring systems are in place to sustain the flow of this information .

In the Government Communication Strategy document, the goal is stated as: “to establish an effective, well coordinated and proactive Communication system across Government and with the public that will meet the nation’s information needs”. This plan which is to be implemented in phases starting with few Ministries will later be implemented in local governments.

The Whole plan is to initiate a process of government availing information to the public proactively from Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments.

This is spearheaded by Office of the Prime Minister under the Information and National Guidance Directorate which has embarked on training of officers responsible for communication and the Directorate has also started on managing content for the National web Portal for Uganda.
